San Francisco, often called "The City by the Bay," is world-renowned for its stunning landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and the iconic Painted Ladies. But there's so much more to this vibrant city than just its scenic views and famous landmarks.
Guests setting sail on Carnival Luminosa can expect hospitality and fun that's pure, unmistakable Carnival, with so many fan-favourite onboard features like the flavours of Alchemy Bar®, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse and RedFrog Rum Bar; the entertainment of Playlist Productions, Piano Bar 88 and The Punch-liner Comedy Club; plus the relaxation of Cloud 9 Spa and Serenity. And when you’re indoors, you can still expect great views and lots of natural light — the ship was built with plenty of windows.
From its mesmerising sights and attractions to the unique mindset and traditions of its people, and not to mention the luxury hotels that will make your stay unforgettable, Tokyo has it all.

Other highlights at this upmarket hotel include a 24-hour fitness centre, a fitness centre and a snack bar/deli. Fellow travellers say great things about the helpful staff and location. Public transportation is only a short walk: Jones St and Beach St Stop is 2 minutes and Hyde St & Beach St Stop is 3 minutes.
Carnival Cruises
In fall 2022, Carnival Luminosa became the latest ship to join the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. The 2,260-passenger vessel previously sailed as Costa Luminosa with Carnival Corporation's Costa Cruises brand. It underwent an extensive refit in the run up to its debut with a new name and livery. Once the crown jewel of the Costa fleet, Carnival Luminosa can't hide its unmistakably Italian roots. From the deck names on the elevator panels to Captain Adriano Bonacchi's cheery Ciao Ciao during announcements, the ship is Italian through and through.
Stateroom Facilities
Carnival Luminosa has 1,130 cabins and suites, which range in size from 150 square feet to 645 square feet; 662 cabins and 106 suites have balconies. Carnival Luminosa has four types of cabins: Interior, Ocean View, and Balcony cabins, Junior Balcony; and four types of suites: Panorama Suites and Cloud 9 Spa suites and two versions of Grand Vista suites (with subcategories).
Dining Options
While Carnival Luminosa might not be the largest ship in the Carnival fleet, there is a substantial range of food options. The Main Dining Room, or Vela Restaurant, is the primary, non-buffet option and is popular at lunch and dinner for food. There is also a specialty steakhouse -- Fahrenheit 555, at an additional cost of $65pp for dinner with wine or cocktails extra. Note: the Tacos and Burritos space will become BlueIguana Cantina while Burgers will get the Guy's Burger Joint livery in the future.
On Decks 1, 2 and 3, the 800-seat Luminosa Theatre is home to Playlist Productions, Punchliner Comedy Club and some late-night fun and games. Playlist Productions run 'musicals' at 7.30 and 9.30 throughout each cruise beginning with the Welcome Aboard stage show where each performer works hard to make the production 'big' on a small stage. Flick is a tribute to Hollywood movies from Top Gun to Flashdance and, surprisingly, Star Wars through song and dance and some clever staging, lighting and effects. Let's Rock is more like a mini-rock opera.Stand up, aka Punchliner Comedy Club, is also in the Luminosa Theatre, and there's a family-friendly 7.30 show and at 9.30 pm, it gets bluer. Each sailing features different Aussie comedians who deliver some classic one-liners and are always up for some lively banter with the audience.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier, Alaska
Hubbard Glacier - another scenic cruising stop. This is the longest tidewater glacier in Alaska extending 76 miles from its source on Mt. Logan in the Yukon. The cliff face you sail along is over six miles wide, 300 to 400 feet from the top to sea level and 300 feet from sea level to the bottom. As Hubbard is advancing, it creaks and groans as it moves and is a very actively calving glacier. This makes for some exciting moments when the huge chunks of ice crash into the Bay creating a wonderful sound called 'white thunder' by the Tlingit people. Small ice bergs, sometimes with sea birds or seals resting on them, float in the water which is glacial blue. Seals calve on the ice bergs here as Orca whales do not visit the bay.

The current gold leaf-coated reconstructed temple was unveiled in 1955, five years after the 14th-century original was torched by one of the temple's monks. It is set on the water amid a garden complex in Muromachi period garden design - the most classical of Japanese gardens.
